Music Hall to Begin Major Structural Repairs Soon

The Tarrytown Music Hall was meant to see the beginnings of some major restoration work to its exterior this summer, but alas, like all such projects there have been the usual amount of delays.

They'd also love to raise more money to fund it.

The exterior renovation plans have a $1 million price tag, much of which is secured through grants from Save America’s Treasures, NY State and two NY Dormitory Authority grants – but, notes the Music Hall’s website, this money needs to be matched.

The plans for the non-profit are outlined as followed:

• North Side: Structural repairs, stronger foundation, new paint and plaster.
• East Side: Desperately needed drainage, improved egress, stronger foundation, paint and plaster.
• New roof on auditorium building, replacing asphalt shingles with slate, installing ice breakers to prevent icicles.
• West side: Repairs, paint and plaster.
• New exit doors.
• Front building: Slate roof repairs.
• Parking lot to be paved, drained and lit.

Executive Director Bjorn Olsson describes the undertaking as “the biggest one we have ever embarked upon.” However, with items on the menu like drainage, “it may not be the sexiest in terms of fundraising... Even so, once we finally get it done, the theater should look a LOT better on the exterior.”

The theater now expects to see work begin in 2014 after the winter months.
