No Winner For Mega Millions; Next Jackpot Tops $1 Billion

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Are you feeling lucky? Someone from the Hudson Valley could win the next Mega Millions, now worth more than $1 billion.

The multi-state lottery has gone 29 times without a winner, causing the jackpot to roll over into historic territory.

At $1.02 billion, as of Wednesday, the drawing on Friday would be the fourth largest Mega Millions payout. That amount is for players who opted to have the jackpot paid out over 30 years.

For the cash pay-out, it's $602.5 million after taxes.

All amounts from the New York State Lottery are estimated and could rise even higher based on ticket sales.

No one chose all five numbers plus the Mega Ball for Tuesday's drawing. There were, however eight $1 million second-prize winners, two of which were in New York. There was also one $3 million second-prize winner, who played the Megaplier option which triples any winnings — except of course the grand prize.

Mega Millions is played in most states, giving odds of winning the grand prize at 1 in 302.5 million.
