The county and state have both set aside funds to launch the environmental review process and begin the design phase.

The project aims to extend the Westchester RiverWalk trail onto the Tarrytown waterfront, up to the Shared Use Path on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge as well as an accessible connection father south to the RiverWalk, sidewalks on Route 9 and the Old Croton Aqueduct.

Eventually, there will be a 15-mile-long stretch of multi-use trail from Yonkers to Sleepy Hollow, with a continuous trail along the 51.5-mile Hudson River shoreline.

Scenic Hudson has been leading collaborative efforts to complete the extension — a safe, secure route beneath the Cuomo Bridge.

Westchester County committed $1.3 million in its 2022 county budget to conduct an environmental review of the extension beneath the bridge. Gov. Kathy Hochul, in January, earmarked $3.5 million in her executive budget for advanced engineering, permitting, additional studies and right-of-way acquisition.
