Police Break Up Fight: Pit Bull vs. Bat
Sleepy Hollow Police responded to a youth fight involving a dog and a baseball bat, both not allowed in Rev. Sykes Park.

Police received multiple calls about a youth carrying a bat with a potential fight simmering on the border of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.
Sleepy Hollow police received calls about a male with a baseball bat possibly looking to fight someone in the area of Wildey Street and Cortlandt Street on March 23 at 5:49 p.m.
Sleepy Hollow police reported finding youths arguing in Rev. Sykes Park across from McDonald's. A cousin had allegedly threatened the other cousin with his pit bull. Police sent everyone on their way, advising parents that bats and dogs are not allowed in the parks.

Later, a grandmother and mother came to Sleepy Hollow police headquarters to complain about the incident and how it was handled. It was their child who had brought the dog. After a lengthy conversation the women agreed that no police action was needed in this situation other than separating the youths.
Police advised the women that no dogs are allowed in the park and not to bring it back there. They said that the cousin's mother had given him a small bat and told him if the dog comes near you to hit him with it.

Police said the bat was pointed at the dog but never was used to strike.
Child Protective Services came into headquarters stating they received a complaint and would conduct interviews without needing police assistance.
