Police: Car Rolls Down Castle Embankment

Tarrytown police report the driver was injured after striking a parked car in the Castle on Hudson property; an officer was injured at the scene.

A caller reported to Tarrytown Police that a car was off the roadway on April 25 at 9:45 a.m. off Benedict Avenue.

Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene where a car apparently struck a parked car and then rolled down an embankment. 

Lieutenant William Herguth said this occurred on the property of the Castle on Hudson estate, with its steep and winding driveway. The estate is currently closed for a multi-million dollar renovation.

TVAC transported the driver to Westchester Medical Center, who apparently sustained a facial laceration and pain to both hands.

Police called a towing company to remove the car.

A Tarrytown police officer reported falling on the embankment while checking the car for passengers, injuring his lower back. Herguth said the officer did not require transport to the hospital and is okay.
