Police: Morning Car Accident Leads to Injury, Damages, Drug Use Arrest

A two-car accident with injuries was reported to Sleepy Hollow police one morning, resulting in one man’s arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs.

A caller reported an accident on Bedford Road on May 4 at 9:42 a.m. Various police units arrived, along with medics and the fire department.

The driver, a 47-year-old from Sleepy Hollow whom police did not name, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. His car’s airbags were deployed. Two towing trucks (one flatbed and one heavy recovery truck) were called to the scene for his car and the car he hit, which in turn ran into hedges.

There was damage reported to a utility pole and residential hedges. Verizon was notified. The property owner called police later requesting a copy of the accident report to give to insurance for the damage to her hedges and mailbox.
