Police: Pole Collisions with Minor Injuries

Tarrytown reported only minor car accidents following our recent Nor'easter, several in which drivers hit a pole.

During the recent snowstorm, there were issues with snow plows, a bus that got stuck, and two pole vs. car accidents as reported here by the Tarrytown Police Department:

A caller on Feb. 8 at 5:04 p.m. reported to Tarrytown police a car accident with a telephone pole at 320 S. Broadway. Officers reported the car struck a pole and the driver suffered a small scratch to his head for which he refused any medical attention.

However, a police check revealed the driver had a suspended license. The driver was issued a summons and released at the scene (due to blizzard conditions) with a return court date. A tow truck removed the car.

On Feb. 9 at 1:16 a.m., a caller reported a one-car accident at Franklin and South Washington Street. Officers reported that the car had struck a light pole and driver was complaining of back pain.

Con Edison was notified to check the pole. A tow truck came for the car, and the driver was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital by Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
