Rear-Ended Car Gets Ticket

One driver said her brakes failed but village mechanics found them to be in good shape.

A Benedict Avenue two-car collision resulted in the driver of the car that was hit getting charged for driving with a suspended license, police report.

The accident occurred between two cars with NY plates on Benedict Avenue on March 14 at 3:59 p.m. Police requested towing for both cars.

One driver was found to have a suspended license and was processed at headquarters and released on $60 cash bail with a court date.

The car that hit him was brought to the DPW garage for inspection since the driver said her brakes failed. However, highway mechanics reported finding the brakes in good working order.

Lt. William Herguth said that this information would become part of the report that goes to insurance but that it had not resulted in any summons for the woman.
