From sports contributor Dick Miller:

On May 25th,  a day without ideal weather conditions, the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen competed at Pearl River in the Section 1, Class B Track and Field Championship. They were one of 20 high schools who vied in the event, with the boys finishing 7th with 40 points, and the girls in 9th place with 20.

The Pirate hosts captured both titles, as they narrowly beat Harrison, 119-110 in boys events, and more than doubled 2nd place Irvington in the girls competition, 157-61.

In the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles, Danny Elia took the event, clocking 16.3. Then he placed 2nd in the Boys 400 Meter Hurdles, with 58.9.

In the Boys 100 Meter Dash Preliminary round, Dante Ellis finished 16th with a time of 12.2. In the Finals, his 11.00 placed him 2nd.

In the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay, the Horsemen quartet was 3rd, at 45.8.

In the ladies' competition, it was all Gabby Maldonado, as the Albany-bound senior won the Girls 200 Meter Dash in 26.2, followed by her victory in the Girls 400 Meter Dash, in 1:00.3. Her 20 point total accounted for all of Sleepy Hollow's points on the day.
