Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse To Close For Renovations
Officials said the work will take about 10 months.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — A major renovation of the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse will mean the facility will have to close to visitors.
Village of Sleepy Hollow officials said the renovation will start after the July 4 weekend, and the facility is expected to be closed for at least 10 months.
The restoration, which is part of Westchester County's $3.4 million capital project, will restore the lighthouse, stabilize the structure and prevent further deterioration.

Work will consist of repairs and repainting the exterior cast iron, replacement of windows and doors, repair of cracks in the cellar, cleaning and re-pointing the foundation masonry, restoration of the interior plaster and painting finishes and repairs to and restoration of all the wood floors.
There will also be reconstruction of the intermediate landing between the bridge and gangway, a new security gate on the mainland and new electric and exterior lighting.

Although the lighthouse will be closed for visits, open houses and class trips, village officials said, Kingsland Point Park and the Riverwalk will remain open at this time.
