Sleepy Hollow Man Charged with DWI with Kids in Car

Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Gregory Camp today reports the arrest of a 46-year-old Sleepy Hollow man, charged with driving drunk with children in the car.
On Monday May 27 around 5 p.m., Sleepy Hollow police responded to a report of a reckless driver going southbound on Route 9 into the village.

Officers found the car attempting to park on Beekman Avenue and determined the driver was intoxicated. They arrested Ruben A. Auquilla, 46, who lives on North Washington Street in the village. 

There were three passengers in the vehicle: a 44-year-old woman and two children, ages 7 and 8.

Auquilla was charged with:

  • Driving while intoxicated
  • two counts of aggravated DWI for operating a motor vehicle with a child who is 15 years of age or less in the vehicle (an E-felony) and 
  • two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Auquilla was transported to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla with a bail set at $7,500. He is scheduled to appear in court June 3 at 3 p.m.
