
Assault on Street
A 911 caller reported to police that he was just assaulted and needed an ambulance but didn't cooperate with authorities at the scene, police said.
Sleepy Hollow police received the call at 2:29 a.m. July 14 from someone who said he was in front of 20 Clinton Street. Officers were sent, along with an ambulance. Police brought a woman to headquarters for further investigation, but Chief Gregory Camp said the victim refused to press charges and no arrest was made.
"Stories conflicted," Camp said.
Car Damaged
A North Washington Street resident reported damage to his car overnight on July 14. Officers report that air had been let out of the tires with several scratches in the paint. Police took photos of the damage and filed a criminal mischief case.
Police Can't Find Man
Police received a late-night 911 call from a man who said he was afraid and in the back room of a bar, but they ultimately could not find him to help.
The man apparently sounded intoxicated and was ranting about about being afraid and that his boss was doing too much cocaine. At first he told police he was in the back room of the bar at 113 Beekman Avenue.
Police cleared out the entire bar but there was no back room.
Police called the caller who was "ranting again," according to the blotter report, and "told to stop talking and explain where he is so he could meet police."
The caller was reportedly uncooperative, now stating he was on the second floor of 111 Beekman, where there was no second floor.
Police checked the second floor of 113 Beekman, where a woman did not know of any problems.
Police called the man back numerous times but he did not answer. Officers sent to check the garage but no one was in garage.
Sleepy Hollow Man Charged with Assault, Child Endangerment
A Chestnut Street woman called Sleepy Hollow police on July 15 at 9:42 a.m. to report her husband had kicked her and struck her in the face during an argument.
Police located the man in his car at 215 North Broadway, where they stopped him at 11:40 a.m.
The 41-year-old man, from Sleepy Hollow, was charged with:
Car Flagged Down by Bleeding Man
A caller reported to Sleepy Hollow police on July 16 at 6 p.m. that she had been flagged down by a group of men she was passing on Sleepy Hollow Road by the Route 117 bridge. She said one of the men was bleeding from the arm and she was afraid to stop.
SHPD notified Mt. Pleasant police. At the scene, police found the area clear but did see blood. Mt. Pleasant PD would conduct an investigation and Sleepy Hollow Volunteer Ambulance Corps was on standby for possible medical aid. Police also found a sheath for a knife on the side of the road which they turned over to the Mt. Pleasant PD.
Setting Fires in Bathroom
A person came into headquarters reporting on the morning of July 17 that someone had been setting fires in the common bathroom at 7 Barnhart Avenue. Officers sent to investigate and reported it was not an arson attempt but is under further investigation.
Later that morning, several fire chiefs and a fire lieutenant went to the building in regards to that case, but Chief Gregory Camp had nothing further to report at this time.
Upset by the Loss of their Illegal Wall
A College Avenue apartment tenant requested police assistance on the evening of July 17 for an argument her mother was having with their landlord.
Officer at the scene reported that the caller and her mother were complaining that while they were away in Puerto Rico, the landlord had entered their apartment to remove a wall, damaging a door frame.
Police informed building inspector Sean McCarthy, who said he had told the landlord to remove the wall in the apartment. The wall had apparently been put up to sublease the space in violation of the code.
19-Year-Old Wirth Avenue Man Arrested
Police got a 911 dropped call from a local phone number. During several attempts to call back the number with no answer, they went to the residence it was coming from at Wirth Avenue.
Officers report a 19-year-old man there was under arrest for criminal possession of a hypodermic needle and filed a domestic incident report. The man was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital and released with a court date.
Police Chief Gregory Camp would not confirm if this was the same man arrested on that street on July 2 on felony drug possession charges.
