Sleepy Hollow Police: Bodega Larceny

Sleepy Hollow Police responded to the scene of an alleged theft, and saw a car racing away, but weren't able to make any arrests, Police Chief Gregory Camp reports.

A caller requested police assistance at his bodega at 180 Cortlandt Street on Feb. 21 at 11:11 p.m. Officers responded but couldn’t communicate with the man who spoke only Spanish. Through the 911 language line, the caller reported that four men were involved in a theft from his store.

Police apparently saw a car with NY plates leaving the scene when they arrived. The police sergeant reported finding a dark-colored Honda possibly involved travelling fast in front of officers at 180 Corlandt and turning down Chestnut when the driver saw police.

The car was then seen speeding north on Route 9. Police notified police from Ossining, Mt. Pleasant and the county with the car information.

Detectives took a statement from the complainant bodega owner, however he refused to file charges at the suspects.

Camp specified that there was no robbery, only larceny, and no arrests were made.
