Craigslist Scam

A man reported to Sleepy Hollow police on May 23 that he was involved in some sort of Craigslist scam. He said he applied for a house painting job but was told the position was filled. However, they said another job was available for a personal assistant.

He was sent a check in the mail which he deposited. Then he was then asked to forward the money to the Philippines. He was advised from his bank that the check was fraudulent.

The man provided police with several emails sent back and forth between he and the company with details of how the money was to be sent to the Philippines. At this time, he was only looking to have the incident put on the record.
