Tarrytown Schools Budget Gets Voter OK

Voters went to the polls Tuesday.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Voters in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow went to the polls Tuesday and approved an $86.4 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.

The unofficial results according to the school district were 858 to 153.

The budget-to-budget increase was 3.09 percent. The tax levy increase will be/would have been 4.58 percent.
Besides the budget, there were two other proposals on the ballot.

  • Establishment of a capital reserve fund to which the district would commit surplus funds for a maximum of 10 years and $12 million. It was approved.
  • Approval of expected transportation costs related to the identification of a child safety zone in an area of the district where students currently walk to school but should be bused for safety reasons. It was approved.

Voters were asked to fill two Board of Education trustee seats. Ida Michael of Sleepy Hollow and Amanda Wallwin of Tarrytown were the winners. John Sutherland of Tarrytown was also on the ballot.
