Tarrytown Cops Charge Peekskill Man with DWI after Benedict Avenue Accident

Tarrytown police charged an unlicensed Peekskill driver with driving while intoxicated after responding to a two-car accident on Benedict Avenue.

Police got a call on Sept. 21 at 7:48 p.m. for an accident on this hilly Tarrytown street. The driver had apparently hit another car that was stopped in traffic to make a left-hand turn, causing rear end damages on that car and front end damages on his own.

The driver was taken to headquarters and cars were towed. Police say the man consented to a breathalyzer test which resulted in a positive reading over the legal blood alcohol limit.

The driver, 29, of Peekskill, was charged with:

  • operating motor vehicle by unlicensed driver,
  • operating vehicle with a blood alcohol count of .08 or higher, first offense,
  • and driving while intoxicated.
He was released on $200 cash bail to a responsible person with a court date.

Note: An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
