Tarrytown PD Make Two Grand Larceny Arrests

A Suffolk County teen was charged with cashing fraudulent checks agains the Village of Tarrytown.

Tarrytown police made two grand larceny arrests for open cases under recent investigation. 

On April 18 at 4:20 p.m., Tarrytown detectives reported an arrest of a young woman on charges of grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument. 

Seleyna Cruz, 19, of Suffolk County, was arraigned by Judge Kyle McGovern with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond and a return court date for a case filed on April 9.

Tarrytown Village Treasurer Jim Hart reported check fraud to the police, involving someone illegally cashing three village checks for over $1,000 at a Chase Bank in Long Island. 

Tarrytown detectives said Cruz was in no way affiliated with the village, but they did charge her as the one who allegedly cashed the checks. "As far as who made them or how they were processed, that's all under investigation," police said.

On April 24 at 12:52 p.m., police arrested John P. Miller, 33, of unspecified address, also on a grand larceny charge.

Miller was released on $500 cash bail with return court date.

Another crime against the village of Tarrytown — construction items exceeding $1,000 in value stolen from a work locker at Pierson Park — is still under investigation, police report.
