A small mulch fire was reported one early evening recently on West Main Street around the perimeter of the new tennis courts and nonresident lot. The fire department responded.
Raccoon Blocks Entry
A raccoon was reportedly blocking someone’s entry into their home on May 17 at 11:11 p.m.
A Carrollwood Drive woman called Tarrytown police to report there was a raccoon on her front steps blocking access to her home. Police came and reported the animal ran off upon his arrival. Â Â Â
Hurricane Sandy Car Â
A Martling Avenue resident reported to police on May 19 that she believed she had been the victim of fraud. She had purchased a car from a friend who said she would get a clear title for ownership and registration. However, the car turned out to have a salvage certification title, considered totaled by Geico Insurance after damages from Hurricane Sandy. Police are investigating case for fraud and possible grand larceny. Â
Four Tires Missing Â
Another Martling Avenue caller reported that his car was in the lot at 222 Martling Avenue with all four tires missing. Officers responded and confirmed this was the case with a black 2012 Honda Accord. They filed a case for grand larceny. Â
Throwing Cones at the Music Hall Â
Someone reported to police witnessing two men throwing traffic cones against the Tarrytown Music Hall illuminated marquee sign just before midnight on May 22. There was no visible damage to the sign. The witness said the men live on main Street, but police weren’t able to contact them.
Three Crest Area Cars Entered
Following a series of car break-ins and petty thefts in the Front Street area south of Route 119, there were several on Crest Drive. Â
On May 23, caller reported someone had entered his car overnight. The glove compartment had been left open with several items thrown on the floor but nothing stolen. Another caller that morning said someone had entered his unlocked car overnight. Nothing was stolen. Finally, a Midland Avenue caller said his unlocked car was entered overnight with a small amount of loose change taken from the center console. Incidents were noted for the record.
