Visitation For Andrea Rebello Draws Crowd, Media

The line of black-clad friends and family gathered just after 4 p.m. Tuesday in front of Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown extended to the sidewalk. This line only grew longer as mourners continued to come in droves, waiting to say goodbye to Andrea Rebello.

Tarrytown police helped with traffic and crowd control, which also included a bank of large media cameras mostly positioned across the street on Broadway.

Tarrytown native Rebello, 21, killed by police bullet in a home invasion on Long Island on Friday morning, will also be remembered in a funeral service Wednesday morning at Sleepy Hollow's St. Teresa of Avila Church. She will then be buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

District Superintendent Dr. Howard Smith, who knew of the 2010 Sleepy Hollow grad though said he didn't know her personally, was among the visitors at Coffey. He said it was hardest to face her twin sister Jessica, so strikingly similar to the pictures he had seen of Andrea. The tragedy this family faces, he said, is "unimaginable."
