Ways To Help Sleepy Hollow Families Displaced By Fire

The supervisor of the town of Greenburgh has suggested ways to help the 12 children and 26 adults displaced by a massive fire Sunday.

GREENBURGH, NY — Communities in Westchester County continue trying to help 12 children and 26 adults who were displaced by a fire that gutted a multi-family home in Sleepy Hollow Sunday.

About 100 firefighters from more than a dozen departments around the region fought a blaze that started around 8 p.m. at 305 N. Washington St. in the village.

None of the residents were injured, but one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

In a posting on the town of Greenburgh website, Supervisor Paul Feiner said the families lost just about everything they had, including some family pets.

He said Kenny Herzog, a Greenburgh snow angel, one of the founders of the Covid Angels Committee and executive director of #VaxUpWestchester, asked the town to share ways people can help.

They are:

  • RSHM Life Center is collecting supplies (clothing, shoes, etc). 32-35 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow. Monday/Wednesday 9:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 9:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. Contact: Andrea Carson, Andrea@RSHMLifeCenter.org, 914-366-9710.
  • The Sleepy Hollow Village Hall is accepting gift cards only. They can be left at the lock box at entrance of building or 2nd Floor, Clerk's office. Any kind of gift cards would be appreciated, and they will be distributed to the families. 914-366-5106, 28 Beekman Ave., Sleepy Hollow. There are seven families, 26 adults and 12 children.
  • The Fuller Center located at 662 Main St. in New Rochelle will offer assistance with food, clothing and housing for all affected. The contact person is James Killoran, 914-730-2316.
