Westchester Native to Compete for Miss USA Title Today

Catherine Muldoon lived in Westchester and spent every summer and most holidays with her grandmother in Sleepy Hollow.

A Westchester native with strong roots in the Hudson Valley, who now lives in Virginia, is competing in the Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas this Sunday, June 3.

Catherine Muldoon, Miss Virginia USA – 2012, is a 26-year-old beauty who graduated with honors from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007. In 2011 she became Dr. Catherine Muldoon, receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania.

Catherine was born at the Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow and although Catherine was 8 years old when she and her mother Kelly moved to Georgia, every summer and most holidays were spent with her grandmother Barbara Muldoon, a Sleepy Hollow resident for more than 45 years.

While attending New York University, Catherine lived for a few years with her uncle TJ Muldoon at his home on Hog Hill Road in Chappaqua. It was during this time that she competed for and won Miss New York Teen USA - 2004. 

According to her contestant page on the Miss USA Pageant website, Catherine "has worked diligently with Operation Smile, an international organization that provides surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities for children around the world. She has also volunteered for humanitarian dental missions, which took her to both Nicaragua and Costa Rica. There, she was able to deliver dental treatment to those in need as well as practice her Spanish."
