Yonkers Man Dies In Fiery Crash On Sprain Brook Parkway

Authorities said the crash happened Sunday morning in the town of Greenburgh.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Yonkers man died in a two-car crash Sunday morning on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh.

The New York State Police said troopers were sent around 9:45 a.m. Sunday to the parkway near mile marker 5.6 northbound for a crash with a car engulfed in flames.

Greenburgh Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived before the troopers got there but were unable to extricate Paul A. Fitzpatrick, 21, of Yonkers, from his 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The initial investigation found Fitzpatrick was traveling north on the parkway when he veered from his lane for unknown reasons, sideswiping a 2017 Toyota Sienna.

Authorities said Fitzpatrick lost control of his Jeep which overturned several times before striking a tree and causing the fire.

State police said the investigation remains ongoing.
