Angela's House to Celebrate Stony Brook Home Opening

A fishing fundraiser will be held to kick off the opening.

Angela’s House, a Hauppauge-based non-profit that assists families caring for children with special health care needs, will celebrate the opening of its third house, located in Stony Brook, with a fishing fundraiser.

Angela’s House III will open at the end of the summer and will have the ability to care for children that require ventilators to support them. The creation of the home is eight years in the making. The organization also operates homes in East Moriches and Smithtown.

To celebrate and kick start its services, the organization will host its annual fishing fundraiser July 30, sailing out of Captree State Park in Babylon from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The event sponsor is the charter boat “Fishtale.” Guests are invited to join us on one of our chartered boats to fish in support of Angela’s House. Aboard each boat, guest will be treated to sandwiches, salads and refreshments in the main cabins while enjoying the sun and fishing. All equipment and bait will be provided.

Bob Policastro, who along with wife Angie founded the nonprofit nearly 22 years ago in honor of their daughter Angela, told Patch in 2011 that the proximity to Stony Brook University Hospital was a factor in the choice of location this time around.

Policastro previously said the Stony Brook facility will be home to eight children, and an entirely new home needed to be built from scratch because of the need to accommodate medical equipment and handicap access.

Tickets to the party are $50 dollars per person. To purchased tickets or sponsorships visit: www.angelashouse.org or call 631 979 2620. For more information about Angela’s House, please visit www.angelashouse.org.
