Here are the top stories in Three Village today:

  1. Three Village Pets: Has the neighborhood really gone to the dogs? Lately, around Three Village, all you hear is conversation around neighbors and their furry friends. As we have all hunkered down a bit more, life with Fido has gotten up close and personal- leading more of us to seek services for our pups. High end grooming, dog sitters and local fresh food vendors are meeting our need to cater to our dogs. Currently, there are still long wait for those seeking services that once may have seemed like luxuries for only the most pampered of pets. Demand has held steady, even as the peak of put adoptions has passed. For dog moms and dads, treating new and old additions to the family ,just like family is the norm. In addition to feeling closer to these companion animas with their nurturing spirits, the call to return back to the office has contributed to the need for dog day care and sitters. For some, it is hard to head back to our routines knowing a little guy or gal has to fend for himself during the day. It could be said that we have a new found warmness and appreciation of our community members after having endured a traumatic year and a half. Given how popular animal services now are, it stands to reason that this warmth extends to the pets who occupy a permanent place in our hearts. (Town of Brookhaven)
  2. Halloween Happenings: On Friday October 22, Halloween will be kicking into high gear with a very ghoulish investigation. The Tesla Science Center in Shorum will be hosting paranormal officials who plan to use cameras, and recording equipment to capture activity from another world. Prices range from $55 to $60 depending on age. All are encouraged to bring their own equipment to document energies existing around the famed lab and tower. Wardenclyffe has long been the object of wonder and has been also shrouded in a bit of mystery. So be brave and join the search for the truth, right in our own backyard just in time for and Harvest activities .So head into this season by braving the elements in your warmest detective threads. For those adventure seekers who attend, drop us a comment and tell us about the experience. Put it on your calendar we will be waiting to hear. (Tesla)
  3. Stony Brook Village Center: Okay, So it is finally here. Stony Brook Village put out the call for its Scarecrow Contest. These straw staples of fall will wow you and give you the willies all a the the same time. Go take a look and vote for your favorite creation. No longer are scarecrows for the birds. Stony Brook Village is honoring its timeless tradition by hosting walking tours and inviting families and grownups to take a take a peek. Walking through the village is a whimsical and wonderful way to spend a fall day. The contest opened Oct. 1 and voting runs through October 25, so don’t waste a minute. The scarecrow with the winningest look will be announced as local favorite at the 31st Annual Halloween Festival hosted by Ward Melville Association. The festival starts at 2 pm on October 29. Hope to see you there. (Stony Brook Village Center)
