- Three Village School District: Come and say Hello Three Village Hosts Open Houses as Kids transition back to their own normal. Schools across Three Village School district will be hosting Open houses to showcase programs and operations. Teachers and their work with young students will shine tonight and Parents get the opportunity to see what makes their kiddos tick during the school day. This evening for grades ranging from Pre – K to Grade 6 -Mount elementary will get to show its stuff. The outstanding programs, special activities and curriculum that kids have access to each and every day will be highlighted for parents. As any educator will note, giving parents a glimpse into where kiddos learn, and play each day can deep a child’s commitment to education and strength the bond between classroom and home. Students succeed most when there is a strong and seamless connection between both environment so tonight is the night for all Mount families. (Three Village School District)
- Nearby News: In response to local commuters noticing increased traffic and long long travel times as Suffolk county County residents return to in person workplaces, Long Island Railroad is asking to turn drivers into train goers. There is still some hesitance to board public transit options since the start of the pandemic. Nevertheless, MTA is urging those commuters experiencing travel times as high as three hours to the City, to use the LIRR. News 12 reports that the LIRR has suspended the peak fare sur charge until the end of the year to lure riders back. Ridership levels hover at 150,00, which is the most robust show of since the pandemic began. This figure does pale in comparison to the 300,000 people who rode the rails typically. (News12)
- Rain Rain Go Away! :Once again, weather officials are predicting heavy rains to move across Suffolk County. This raises the now familiar possibility of flooding in our area. Coastal communities across the United States, like Stony Brook are reeling from the exhaustion of the effects of messy storms that are increasing in frequency and in intensity. Locally, we are prepared to tolerate more torrential train tonight and overnight through the morning. Flash Flood warnings have been issued for Suffolk counties and all residents are advised to heed these warnings seriously. One of the dangers of weather changes due to climate change is the response fatigue that can set in. Stony Brook is so fortunate to be a community with shore line. The last major storm showed , however, that not being able to respond in a weather emergency can leave individuals and families vulnerable to the potential for life threatening risk of flash flooding. Stay vigilant and react to any sudden change in forecasts.(Suffolk County)
