  1. Emma Clark Memorial Library is hosting a book discussion to celebrate Black History Month. All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley's Sack, a Black Family Keepsake by Tiya Miles will be on-topic on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. You don't need to register. (Patch Events)
  2. Three Village Nassakeag Elementary School students learned how to avoid pollution to protect life at our local bay and watersheds. Part of the assignment was an experiment in which students separated pollution caused by "stormy waters" into clean water for marine animals. The exciting fact about this class is that the kids had a chance to interact with live horseshoe crabs. (Three Village Patch)
  3. Some may think that food addiction is just an imaginary issue, but it's real, and resources are available for those struggling with it. Michigan Institute of Healthcare Policy released results of a survey that show one in eight adults struggles to keep food portions low. LI News 12 has a guide with a list of signs of food addiction and where to go to get professional help. (News12)
  4. Greater Port Jefferson-Northern Brookhaven Arts Council will host a Sunday Street Concert on Sunday, Feb. 19. Singers Joe Jencks and Rod MacDonald will hit the stage of the Long Island Museum.
