LAKE GROVE, NY —An unusual farmers market is coming to the Smith Haven mall this summer. A drive-through pop-up market will take place Thursday afternoons in the mall parking lot, where customers can purchase a range of local and artisenal products in a coronavirus-safe way: from their car windows. Thursday was the opening day, and organizers told Newsday they hope to stick around through the fall.

The market, run by HeartBeet Farms, a small farm in Centereach, will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. , next to the Bahama Breeze restaurant. Preordering from the vendors is available on the market's website. Preordering isn't mandatory, however: you can also just drive up and order.

The market runs rain or shine. Products on sale will include produce, milk, eggs, meat, seafood, honey, maple syrup, cookies, popcorn, soap, soup, sauce, salsa, to-go meals, glazes, dressings, pizza kits, pickles, hummus, organic coffee, tea and more.
