Romaine Wins Suffolk County Executive Race In Unofficial Results
On Wednesday morning, Romaine was leading Dave Calone 158,452 votes or 57 percent to 119,052 votes or 43 percent, unofficial results show.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Republican Ed Romaine won the Suffolk County Executive seat in his race against former federal prosecutor Dave Calone, a Democrat, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections on Wednesday morning.
Romaine was leading Calone 158,452 votes or 57 percent to 119,052 votes or 43 percent with all districts reporting, unofficial BOE results show.
Romaine, of Center Moriches, is the supervisor of Brookhaven Town. A former educator, Romaine has served in the Suffolk County Legislature and as the County Clerk.

Romaine declared victory at the GOP's HQ Tuesday night, thanking his supporters, according to a News 12 broadcast.
"Thank you, Suffolk; you crushed it," he said.

It is was Romaine's second bid for the seat after losing to Steve Levy 20 years ago in 2003.
Romaine said he plans to bring the county together.
"Together, we will govern together," he said. "You have given us a mandate."
"Tonight, we crushed it, baby," he added.
Calone, a Setauket resident, is an attorney and businessman who has served on the Long Island Power Authority's board, as well as the Suffolk County Planning Commission.
At Democratic headquarters, Calone spoke of the importance of voting and said he had the opportunity to call Romaine and congratulate him, wishing him well, according to News 12.
"His success will be our success and the county's," he said.
"So let's all work together because at the end of the day, local government isn't about left or right or how we reach a vote. It's about how we work together to solve the issues that we're facing. "
