1. Save the date for the Winter Birds of Long Island hosted by Emma Clark Library on Tuesday, Jan. 3. This is an online event led by birder Dianne Taggart from 7 to 8 p.m. Click here to register. (Patch Events)
2. Police are offering a cash reward for tips that helps to identify the suspect who stole a package from a house's porch in Mount Sinai. The incident happened on Chelsea Drive at 12:15 p.m. in October. Inside the box was an iPhone evaluated at $1,100. Click on the link to see pictures of the suspect. (TBR News Media)
3. FDNY firefighter William Moon II funeral will be held this Thursday at St. Patrick's church. That will be the opportunity for Long Islanders to say farewell to a local hero who sadly passed away after a brain injury caused by a fall during a training session in Brooklyn. (News12)

• Many Long Islanders touched by Thomas Valva's story visited his grave during the holidays. Thomas was eight years old when he passed away. His father, ex-NYPD Officer Michael Valva, was convicted for his death. (Patch)
