Fired Penn State Prez is Former SBU Administrator

Graham Spanier held two high-ranking positions at Stony Brook prior to becoming president at Penn State.

In the wake of the Penn State sexual abuse scandal, both head football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier have been fired, the university announced Wednesday.

According to a Long Island Business News report, Spanier is a former administrator at , having served as Stony Brook's vice provost for curriculum instruction and advisement and later as the first vice provost for undergraduate studies.

"This university is a large and complex institution, and although I have always acted honorably and in the best interests of the university, the buck stops here," Spanier said in a statement issued Thursday.
