- Fuel Prices: Get ready to pay higher bills for heating this winter, along with seemingly everything else. With prices surging worldwide for heating oil, natural gas and other fuels, the U.S. government said Wednesday it expects households to see their heating bills jump as much as 54 percent compared to last winter. Three Village families know that damp cold and snow leads us to turn up the heat. This winter, we all may be feeling the effects of up to a 50 percent a raise. (News12)
- Stony Brook Harbor investigation of body found: A person in Nissequogue notice a body in Stony Brook Harbor near the shore. Police were called to investigate. It is rare that police are called into Three Village for instances such as this one. There was no immediate information available about the person found, manner of death or the circumstances around the shocking discovery. (Smithtown Matters)
- Three Village Board of Education meeting: Parents came out on Oct. 13 to present the issues that mattered to their families. Three Village School District hosted a school board meeting on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the North Country Building. There were so many complex issues facing parents and kids this year. It is important to voice opinions and hear School Board members approaches to solving the problems of our day. Around the country, hot button issues like mask wearing have been flash points at school board meetings. Civility is key to conquering community challenges with diverse solutions. Three Village is known across Suffolk County for being an amazing parent community and is often expected to tackle agenda items with courtesy with the interest of the students top of mind as the primary consideration. All residents want a fair hearing to all perspectives affecting our youngsters, and this Board of Education meeting was the place to prioritize the wellbeing of our students and their education and see civil engagement at work.
