Here are the top stories today in Three Village:
- Holiday Shop: As the holidays approach, we all read stories about supply chain problems creating massive delays and shipping shortages. These slowdowns are unwelcome any time of year. During the fall and winter holiday season disruptions can be catastrophe. Solet’s take a look at options for local gift ideas. One notable venue for creative presents is Gallery North in East Setauket located at 90 North Country Road. They have regular exhibits during year, but they also feature craft artisans. For instance, stop by this Three village gem to browse works of Dense Anneke, Eileen Baumeister. Their unique jewelry designs are featured at the gallery. For handmade pieces look no further than The Shop at Gallery North. Woven creations, prints and housewares like vases abound with country chic flair in their shop. One of the most special part of living in the Three Village community is having such charming businesses that have become a hallmark of life in town. In this age of the big box store and gargantuan on line retailers, wouldn’t it be nice to beat the shortages by patronizing a local merchant for holiday gift needs? It looks like Gallery North is the perfect place! (Gallery North)
- Three Village St James Church: Lots of Three Village business has been opening up after the closings of the Corona virus pandemic. St. James church is showing us how the community’s faith remains strong and how young people are ready to bounce back into church gatherings with great energy. The Setauket Roman Catholic church, initiated by its youth, is asking for responses to a survey. The survey directed to youth within the parish who regularly attend church services asks about participation moving forward. Youngsters from college aged, to adolescent are being asked to find a balanced and safe way to celebrate events and their faith. The minister is also taking the inclusive approach to posing the question of how much focus members want to place on seeking out those who have been less involved in church life. Much of what young parishioners are being asked to consider are existential questions that have arisen in our new normal. Questions of prioritizing and value are top of mind after such a life changing experience s that we have endured collectively in the villages since 2020. Additionally, St. James has welcome Fr. Robert, a new priest. St. James is well known in the community for being the Catholic worshipers in Setauket and beyond with great events, fundraising drives and innovative programs that engage local youth. Eating chocolate is an event in itself. The Confectioner Chocolate works in Stony Brook is famous for it's Belgian chocolate and for their talent in making custom creations with it. The holiday season gives Chocolate works the chance to showcase their every so savory hand work. They can teach you the art of chocolate making, or simply give you a great excuse to check out the varieties and forms of deliciousness like truffles, chocolate dipped strawberries and more.
