Here are the top stories in Three Village today:
- Three Village Community Reacts To Changes To Housing Stock: Three Village residents are up in arms about the development of Heatherwood Golf. The units, which include a golf course, are undergoing construction in Setauket on Nesconset Highway. They are intended for senior residents and have allocated 15 percent of homes for affordable housing eligible tenants. Other future amenities will include tennis courts and facilities for pickleball. Built on the nine hole golf course, the units range in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Despite the future addition of a new housing option in a historically tight market, the then president of the Three Village Civic Association, Jonathan Kornreich, was a fierce critic of the property. - Monster's Ghosts and Goblins Abound: Welcome to St. James home, the region’s scariest domicile. Deep well’s haunted mansion, which was built in 1845, is reputed to be host to lots of other worldly activity. The home showcases scary scenes and is open for tour. Families and brave three Village frighteners had an alarmingly good time roaming the halls of the paranormal palace during this Haunted Holiday. The Deep Well Historic Society is a 501 C3 that sponsors the event on select weekends in October. It is a fascinating look at the homes past and reputation, but as this Halloween has come and gone, consider becoming involved with the organization during the off season for a little thrill all year long. - Major Arrest On SUNY Stony Brook Campus: Police said the 41-year-old student lived in the dorm and sold drugs out of his room within the on-campus housing facility. Cops recovered multiple illegal drugs including Fentanyl and marijuana in the bust. Suffolk County Police Department commended the public for providing a tip that lead to the investigation and ultimate takedown of the enterprise. The seizure happened after undercover cops arranged to purchase the substances from Domingo Zaba, the alleged offender, and confirmed that the student sharing his room did not have involvement in the sale and distribution of the illegal products. He was given an electronic monitor and placed on supervised release, and ordered to return to appear in court later this year. (Patch)
