The Jazz Loft’s ‘Young at Heart’ Series Celebrates Black History Month
Next month's spotlight will be on Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Ella Fitzgerald.

The Jazz Loft, 275 Christian Avenue in Stony Brook, will be resuming its popular Young at Heart daytime concert series on February 1 when the Loft pays homage to Black History Month with the spotlight on African American women of song—Sarah Vaughan; Billie Holiday; Dinah Washington; and Ella Fitzgerald. The Ward Melville Heritage Organization is a co-sponsor of the concert series.

The band will feature Jazz Loft founder Thomas Manuel and the Young at Heart Trio, with Manuel on cornet; Steve Salerno on guitar; and Keenan Zach on bass. All concerts are from 1-2 p.m. for the discounted price of just $10. Tickets can be purchased here: Tickets
“The contributions by Black musicians, singers and composers to the art of Jazz are infinite,” said Manuel. “We are proud to be highlighting some of the leading ladies of song in February with our ‘Here’s to the Ladies’ Young at Heart concert.
