'Unconscionable': LI Man Who Sexually Abused His Children Faces Decades In Prison: DA
The children did not report the abuse for fear of being taken away from their family and separated from their siblings, the DA said.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Selden father, 68 years old, was sentenced to 32 to 57 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing three of his children over a 13-year period, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced Friday.
The father was not named in order to protect his children's identities, the DA said.
Between 1997 and 2010, the father sexually abused three of his children, investigators said. The children were between the ages of 7 and 13 years old at the time and were unable to report the abuse to anyone because they were afraid of being taken away from the family and separated from their siblings, prosecutors said. When the three children became adults, they reported the abuse to the police, authorities said.

"It is unconscionable that a father would subject his own children to years of such heinous acts of sexual violence," Tierney said in a news release. "Our hearts go out to the victims for their bravery in coming forward after everything that they endured."
The father was convicted on Nov. 25 of three counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
