  1. The Jazz Loft beats drums in various events celebrating Black History Month. There will be live performances, art exhibits and wine tasting. There will be a live performance with mandolin player Buddy Merriam of Sound Beach on Feb. 24, along with an art exhibit with all jazz mementos — not to mention a wine tasting on Feb. 25, featuring the wine of LVE (Legend Vineyard Exclusive, a flavorsome brand, Black-owned and available on Long Island.)   2. A business in Stony Brook was on fire on Sunday Morning. Crews arrived to contain the flames at 3 a.m. at the back of Camera Concepts, a telescope store at 93 Main St. in Stony Brook. No injuries were reported in the incident. (News 12 Long Island)
  3. Emma Clark Memorial Library is hosting an instrumental petting zoo on Friday, Feb 24, at 2:30 p.m. Staller Center for the Arts will lead the kids into seeing, listening and playing instruments from around the world. Click here to register. (Patch Events)
  4. Are you a fan of classic movies? If so, you might like to know that Celebrate St. James is hosting a Classic Movies series. The first screening starts Sunday, Feb. 26, featuring "Random Harvest," a 1942 romantic drama, at 1 p.m. There will be a total of five upcoming movies. (Celebrate St. James)
  5. Breeze Airways once again increased destinations from MacArthur Airport. Flights to three popular destinations in Florida, along with Pittsburg and Richmond, will be available throughout the summer. (LongIsland.com)

It should be mentioned a sensory-sensitive performance is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. (Theatre Three)
  • Nearby News: A family from Port Jefferson was about to pay $15,000 to bail their son out of jail for an allegedly serious traffic violation. As facts were unveiled, the Vigliarilo family discovered it was a scam. Two callers identified themselves as public defenders who needed the payment to start the legal process.
