Prosecutor Says Stabbed Long Island Mom Played Dead As Son, 15, Slayed Grandma: Report
UPDATE: It happened after an argument when the boy barricaded himself in his room on his computer and skipped school, Newsday reported.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Prosecutors say a Long Island mother pretended to be dead as her 15-year-old son stabbed her mother to death after a fight sparked when the pair threatened to take his computer away, Newsday reported.
At around 10 p.m., the 36-year-old mom ran out of her home on Old Town Road in Selden, where a passing driver stopped offered help and 911 was called, Suffolk police said.
When officers arrived, they found the 56-year-old woman, inside the home with stab wounds, police said, adding that the grandmother was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office, while the mother was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The boy, who bolted from the home and was later arrested at Dare Road and Buckskin Lane in Selden at around 11:22 p.m., has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder, police said.
The boy's name is being withheld due to his status as a minor.

Homicide Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer told Newsday the family had argued about something found on the boy's computer before the stabbing, and that the mother is "distraught" and in serious condition with stab wounds to the arms, back, neck, and face, though she is expected to survive.
Beyrer told News 12that the knives were recovered at the scene.
He declined to elaborate on what was on the teen's computer, according to the outlet.
Peter Mayer, a defense attorney from Hauppauge, told Newsday that the boy is a "child" and that similar to all defendants, has the presumption of innocence.
Patch has reached out to Mayer for comment.
