SOUTH SETAUKET, NY — A 45-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash on Route 347 Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk police, Stephen Napolitano was driving a 2017 Nissan van east on Nesconset Highway when he struck a 2013 Ford truck that was stopped in eastbound traffic about 1,100 feet west of Wireless Road in South Setauket at 2:24 p.m.
The collision pushed the Ford truck into the rear of a 2011 Ford Edge that also stopped in traffic.

Napolitano, of Mount Sinai, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries.
The driver of the Ford truck, Dylan Moore, 17, of Setauket, and the driver of the Ford Edge, Ryan Clancy, 35, of Miller Place, were not injured.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652.
