Motorcyclist Killed After Car Makes Illegal U-Turn In Centereach

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle that made an illegal U-turn in Centereach on Friday morning, police say.

According to authorities, 58-year-old Centereach resident George Kellerman was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson northbound on Horseblock Road when his motorcycle collided with a southbound 2004 Toyota that made an illegal U-turn at 11 a.m.

Kellerman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Toyota, Jose Diaz Benitez, and his 2-year-old son, who was restrained in a car seat, were not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
