Peace Corps Director to Speak at SBU

Friday's event is open to the public.

Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams will give a talk at Stony Brook University on Friday, an event which is open to the public.

Prior to his being named the director, Williams was a volunteer in the Dominican Republic from 1967 to 1970, and is the fourth Peace Corps director to be a former volunteer.

University president Samuel L. Stanley Jr. will join Williams; the pair will talk about the Peace Corps and its relationship with the university, as well as the Peace Corps' role in the 21st century global landscape.

The talk is set for 10:00 am in the Humanities building at Stony Brook in the second floor Poetry Room.

Stony Brook University has had more than 180 Peace Corps volunteers among its alumni since the Peace Corps was started in 1961. Today, the Peace Corps has more than 9,000 volunteers serving in 75 countries.
