Here are the top three stories today in Three Village:
- The Stony Brook University (SBU) Economic Development Incubator Showcase is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, Jun. 8) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The free event will take place at the university's Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology. Over 60 companies from SBU's incubation system will attend the showcase; participants will have the opportunity to connect with local business owners, financiers, and investors. - A Long Island nonprofit is focusing on improving infrastructure investments for marginalized communities. In a Thursday night session at Hofstra University's ideaHUb, Minority Millenials announced their plan to create a separate 501(c)(4) organization to lobby state-elected officials. Jimmy Coughlan, vice president of development at East Setauket-based real estate company Tritec, spoke at the event. "We can't do most of our projects without some sort of infrastructure support, and I think there are blatantly communities that need the infrastructure support more than others," Coughlan said. “Our goal as an organization is to provide housing, particularly for young people to keep them on Long Island, that allows people to walk to work or the grocery store in a semi-urban environment that they want to live in."(Subscription: Newsday)
