Here are the top stories today in Three Village:

  1. Three Village Outstanding Leader in District Education in Suffolk releases it's own rankings of schools each year. Here in Three Village, the school district came out as a major contender. Solidifying an already Steller reputation , Three Village school district ranked number two in Suffolk County receiving top notch ratings for educating our kids. Notch rates measures like health and safety, student clubs and activities and percentages of students proficient in math and reading. Three Village continued to rise to the top by garnering A plus scores. We know little people are in great hands when we send them off each morning, but always nice to receive distinguished recognition as a local leader in how invested the villages are in young people ‘s success school . 2. Stony Brook Campus Art Exhibition: An exhibit at the Charles B Wang Center features 11 stories from immigrants voices decrying injustice like racial profiling and matters of race, class and disability. Based on a graphic novel called “ Our Stories Carried Us Here”, this is a ground breaking display of pigment topics. The installation runs until December 10 and highlights the experiences of immigrants from developing countries including Chad and Guatemala through brilliant illustrations. It is free to the public. The Three Village community is fortunate to have the opportunity to tackle issues of inequity that our entire country has been grappling with. Having the ability to access an artistic conversation about such complex realities can convey the authenticity of subjects to these artists who hailed from a world away deal with every day. Having an exhibit like this right in the Skylight Gallery is emblematic of the care and inclusion that defines our community. Come out and take a peek into how the scales are tipped for so many who made their start in far away places, but whose feelings and influences have come to be a part of who we are here. This type of creative and meaningful discourse through art adds true meaning to our community conversations. (Stony Brook University)
  3. Study Shows Climate Change Could Be Altering the Marine Food Web: Climate change is redistributing biodiversity globally, and distributional shifts of organisms often follow the speed and direction of environmental changes. Research by scientists at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmosphere Science(SOMAS) reveals that this phenomenon is affecting where large marine mammals are distributed relative to their prey species, which could have important implications for marine food web dynamics. (Stony Brook News)
  4. Stony Brook Weather: Big thunder was on the Horizon! A fast moving but fierce storm moved across the area this afternoon darkening skies. In addition to some ominous looking storm clouds, rain fell with familiar intensity. The late fall thunderstorm took school kids and outdoors revelers by surprise. Yet, despite the bewitchingly strong rainfall, it subsided quickly. We have had an unusual number of intense weather events of late. This afternoon's squall was noteworthy for a quick onset but seemed to just pass through. Nice for singing in the rain! (Weather Underground)
