Here are the top three stories in Three Village today:

  1. The complete lineup for the 27th Stony Brook Film Festival was announced on Tuesday. The 34-movie lineup includes the opening night film "Peaceful," about an acting teacher with a terminal illness, and “Lost Transport,” a World War II drama. This year's festival will run from Jul. 21-30 at Stony Brook University's Staller Center for the Arts. (Subscription: Newsday)
  2. Fire Department officials rescued six ducklings trapped in a storm drain in nearby Port Jefferson on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred on Seacourt Lane, where a resident heard one of the ducks quacking and placed an animal distress call. After Port Jefferson Rescue 7 opened the drain, the ducklings were all safely retrieved and returned to their mother unharmed. (Patch)
  3. Elected officials and local business leaders held a press conference yesterday in Port Jefferson to petition for funds to modernize the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). The line is not currently electrified beyond Huntington, but leaders are calling on New York State and the MTA to fund the upgrade. A 2016 survey estimated that the project would cost approximately $414 million. (Patch)
