Here are the top stories in Three Village today:
- Trick -or-treating during the pandemic: Halloween is around the corner and we are all thinking of how to have fun with our families while keeping kids safe. Rochelle Walensky, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hinted at possible recommendations for this year’s celebration. “I wouldn’t necessarily go to a crowded Halloween party, but I think that we should be able to let our kids go trick and treating small groups". Halloween is a major event at Three Village where kids and the spooky festivities are an annual tradition. Last year, many in the area adjusted trick and trusting plans. In response to the Covid pandemic. This year, moms and dads are weighing whether to let ghosts and goblins circulate to show off costumes and fill up treat bags. The comments from Ms. Walensky should give parents a bit of reassurance on holiday observances in general as we head into a season full of gatherings.(CNBC)
- What Hat Do You Wear? :This weekend The Reboli Center for Art and History held one of their first workshops on their fall roster. The session asked young artists to envision hats of a variety of descriptions. Using sketching techniques, fledgling imaginations created artwork inspired by legendary forms of hat wear. The gallery was closed to the public in order to safely host the event. In addition to upcoming holiday workshops , The Reboli Center is changing its installation and exhibit currently being presented. The facility was closed to welcome its newest displays, but reopened Tuesday . The Reboli Center for Art and history is a cultural institution that honors the work of artist Joseph Reboli and is named in his memory. It is a main artery of the creative pulse of both Three Village and the region at large. (Reboli Center)
- Stony Brook Goes Global: Stony Brook is known as a major innovator on the Long Island education scene. Now, that innovation and world footprint can be seen in cuisine. Surely, students of all palate preferences will feel at home to order spicy and savory dishes without leaving campus. Dawn Valacci, the Faculty and Student Association Manager of Student said after evaluating they wanted to “provide students with authentic and cravable menu options.
It looks like the entire student body will love lunch with such a focus on the availability of diverse and delicious food. Stony Brook university adds international flair and puts Asian food on the campus menu. With the addition of South Asian vittles and traditional Indian dishes, the college wants to offer an authentic and sophisticated vibe to their student dining. (The Statesman) - Stony Brook Hospital: 93% of the SBH Staff Got their first COVID-19 vaccine. It was not immediately clear if that amount is a combination of workers who are fully vaccinated and how many have only received the first dose of the vaccine. The percentage of employees who are fully vaccinated is not available, according to officials. Southampton Hospital and Eastern Long Island Hospital are not included in the calculation. There is no requirement for healthcare workers to have a second dose at this time.(Three Village Patch)
