2. The Jazz Loft will host a "Jazz concert and jam session' on Wednesday, July 27. The trio,
   bassist Keenan Zach and friends, will start playing at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. (Patch)
3. A mother from Kings Park had a lovely surprise while partying with friends in her backyard. The U.S. Marine, Joseph A. Hobbins, surprised his mother with an earlier homecoming after over two years away from home. (Patch)

• Greater Long Island: "The multi-day draft, which happened July 17-19, saw Port Jefferson’s Brian Fitzpatrick and Central Islip’s E.J. Exposito see their dreams realized. Fitzpatrick, a left-handed pitcher out of Rutgers, was picked in Round 10 by the Milwaukee Brewers." (Greater Long Island)
