  1. Parents protested in front of Miller Place High School Tuesday after the district sent out a letter saying it was removing mask breaks for students. In the letter, the district said it was following updated guidelines from the state. "I think what they did in Miller Place was pretty intense to suggest that there are no more mask breaks," said Jessica Rudin of East Setauket. "That's really unfair." The school sent out another letter to parents after the outrage, restoring mask breaks in the elementary schools. (News 12 Bronx)
  2. For the third time in its last four games, the Stony Brook University women’s basketball team (8-1) had at least four student-athletes score in double figures in route to a victory.
    The Seawolves knocked off Penn (4-7), 75-69, on Dec. 10., inside Island Federal Arena behind the quartet of graduate forward India Pagan, junior guard Gigi Gonzalez, senior guard Earlette Scott, and graduate forward Leighah-Amori Wool, all scoring in double-digits. (TBRNews)

Mount Sinai High School’s SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and Holiday Magic combined for its 23rd year as a team devoted to making the holidays magical for children across Suffolk County. Holiday Magic, headed by Charlie “Santa” Russo, is a nonprofit organization that dedicates itself to making the holidays special for less fortunate children and their families. (TBRNews)

  • The Huntington Town Board voted Tuesday to opt out of allowing cannabis retail dispensaries and onsite consumption sites as authorized under the New York State Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act. The board voted 5-0 on the measure. (Newsday)

  • A distributor of Haagen-Dazs ice cream and Tombstone and DiGiorno frozen pizza in the metropolitan area wants to construct a headquarters and warehouse in Hauppauge, officials said on Tuesday. E&M Logistics Inc., based in the Bronx, plans to replace 380 Oser Ave. with a building more than double the size. The $13.4 million project will include installation of a larger freezer. (Newsday)
