  1. Suffolk Police is investigating an incident during which a man was forced at knifepoint to withdraw money from two ATMs and got slashed in the face. A man from Centereach left his car unlocked while shopping at OK Petroleum, a gas station located at Middle Country Road in Centereach. When he returned to his car, an armed man, was in the backseat and asked for money. When the victim said he did not have money, the suspect forced the victim to drive to two ATMs to make withdrawals. Jim Malatras, chancellor of the SUNY, announced his resignation last week because of political pressure for him to step down after text messages showed him "belittling" one of the women who accused Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment. Across the system, SUNY has four academic health centers, five hospitals, four medical schools, two dental schools, a law school, the state’s only college of optometry, and manages one U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory. Two of those schools locally are Stony Brook University and Suffolk County Community College. (TBRNews)

The Seiskaya Ballet’s "The Nutcracker," one of the favorite holiday ballets on Long Island, returns to Stony Brook University’s Staller Center for the Arts, located at 100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook for a six-performance run from Dec. 16 to 19.
