2. Setauket resident and democrat Dave Calone announced he will be running to succeed Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. Calone is granted $1 Million in campaign contributions given by supporters. (Patch)
3. The plan to expand Mather Hospital has been approved by the board with 3-0 votes on July 14. Some residents are against the project due to the need to clear trees to expand the parking lot. About $78.7 million will be invested in the site. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
