July 27, 2022

Ward Melville High School students Ella O’Connor and Ava Micena recently planned and taught a “Young Nature Writers Workshop” at Avalon Nature Preserve in Stony Brook. Each day, participants hiked the preserve, read from important poets and wrote poems of their own, as part of the Writers Cabin program at Avalon. Under the mentorship of P.J. Gelinas Junior High School teacher Doug Elliot, these award-winning high school writers treated participants to a great week in the outdoors.
