UPDATE: Town Tax Refunds to Three Villagers Will Happen Next Year
Village Times Herald reports some residents can expect a refund of around $40 – but will have to wait until 2013.

An error made by the Brookhaven town assessor's office resulted in overcharging residents of the Three Village Central School District, according to a report published Wednesday in the Village Times Herald.

Tax assessor Jim Ryan said the error originated when his office mistakenly gave Jefferson's Ferry a full tax exemption rather than a partial one. According to the report, Three Village homeowners who paid their tax bills prior to Jan. 10 will receive an average of $40.
